Covenant

We, the Congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Village Church, covenant with one another, the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA), and the world at large in the following ways:

We commit to our Affirmation of Covenant the concepts of Free Pulpit and Free Pew, and the UUVC Covenant of Good Relations within our church community.

We are mindful of nurturing our spirits, as well as fostering our intellectual growth.

We are united in our commitment to the world to dwell together in love and peace, promote justice, seek knowledge in freedom and serve humankind by affirming and promoting the Principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregation

At each of our church services the congregation affirms our covenant with one another by reading together these words:

Love is the doctrine of this church,
And the quest of truth its sacrament,
And service its prayer.
To dwell together in peace,
To seek knowledge in freedom,
To serve humankind in fellowship,
To the end that all souls shall grow into harmony with the good.
Thus do we covenant with one another.

Other UU churches have similar covenants, but ours is unique to our congregation.
