Standing Committees

The church Board designates Standing Committees, which include both Members and Friends of UUVC.  Some committees hold regular meetings, and some communicate through other means. Through the Council of Committee Chairs, they report their activities to the Board.

 Building Committee

  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of the Church facilities and grounds in an environmentally and economically sound manner
  • Seeks to make the facilities attractive and inviting 
  • Manages the use of the facilities by groups within the Church and outside the church
  • Arranges the furniture for meetings and events 

Communications Committee

  • handles the internal and external communications of the Church via
             * the monthly UUVC newsletter
             * electronic notices
             * the Church website
             * articles for publication in the local newspaper.
  • notifies the Congregation about Church services, meetings, activities, and matters of concern

Finance Committee

  • Collects, counts and deposits pledge payments and other contributions received
  • Advises and assists the Treasurer.

Long Range Planning Committee

  • Guides the congregation through the process of developing a long range plan which reflects the philosophy and aspirations of the congregation every five years.
  • Serves as a guide to the actions of the Board.

 Membership Committee

  • Promotes membership and active participation in the Church.
  • Creates a warm, friendly and caring environment at UUVC for member, friends, and visitors
  • Maintains membership records
  • Plans periodic meetings for those interested in becoming members of the Congregation.

Office Administration Committee

  • Gathers, records and distributes information for the Church
  • Assists officers and  committees in their duties
  • Staffs the office during office hours
  • Prints the weekly Order of Service bulletin.

Program Committee

  • Plans, coordinates and implements Worship and Insight services.
  • Coordinates the music program
  • Recruits people to participate in services
  • Conducts educational programs
  • Oversees the library
  • Organizes covenant groups

Events Committee

  • Plans and conducts Church-wide social functions
  • Arranges hospitality on Sundays
  • Keeps the kitchen organized and stocked
  • Coordinates the Interest Groups

Social Justice Committee

  • Encourages volunteer activities for community organizations
  • Recommends organizations to receive donations from the Church
  • Serves as the liaison with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
  • Serves as link to the Arkansas UU Justice Ministry.
