SOCIAL JUSTICE

Social Justice
Sue Loberg
Sept. 20, 2020

The Social Justice Committee welcomes our new Vice Chair Dianne Morton. THANK YOU DIANNE….YEA!!!  If you have any suggestions or concerns you may contact either Dianne or myself.
Thanks to everyone who supported the Arkansas Food Bank our Share the Plate charity for August as we sent them a check for $2741.42.

Our October recipient is Clarion Call. For newer members and friends this charity is a 50l© that is owned and run by our own Ben Wright. He as 4 houses in Hot Springs  that allows people who are recently released from jail and or in recovery a place to live with very low rent while they look for a job, attend  meetings and get back on track. Two of the houses are for women, one for men and one for a couple. Collectively there are 17 residents .Besides our monetary contribution this month we are also requesting the following: unisex jackets, sweatshirts, winter hats, scarves, socks, jeans, hygiene products, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, soap, razors and deodorant for both sexes. With a limited income there is not money for the little extras such as: nail polish, creams and make-up for the women. I found some samples and stuff that I may be used once and will make up a little bag for the women’s houses. The clothing can be used or new. Any items that are not used are then sent off to Jackson House. Sheets, towels, wash cloths, blankets, pillows are always needed since each person, as they leave for their own accommodations, takes those things with them. Kitchen utensils, dishes, silverware, pots and pans occasionally disappear when someone leaves.

Alana Clegg is our contact for Clarion Call and she will deliver all our contributions. You can stop off at the church on Wed. or Thurs. between 10 and 4 when the C4K folks are there to drop off any items. There will be a blue bin by the back door –one with steps-. Thanks in advance for all our contributions.
