Interest Groups
We are diverse group with many varied interests. To build community around these varied interests, the congregation developed Interest Groups. Anyone in the congregation can start a group if enough others show similar passions. That also means as participation wanes, these groups dissolve. Therefore, this is an evolving, changing part of UUVC.
Below is a list and description of the current Interest Groups and coordinators for each group. Contact information my be found in the Church Directory.
Fourth Friday Film Fest
A full length movie is shown on the 4th Friday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Community Hall. The name of the movie, as well as information about it, is included in the UUVC monthly Newsletter. Pamper yourself and come enjoy a movie with us.

Dining Out
Dining Out groups were designed for those who like to venture out for dining and socializing at our
numerous nice restaurants, both locally and in the greater Hot Springs area. It’s a great way for newer
members and friends of UUVC to get to know fellow UU'ers on a more social level. Each "Dining Out"
group will number around six people, which keeps the group more intimate while dining. Each couple
(or team of singles), in turn, will agree to find a restaurant that they like (or wish to explore) and then make the necessary arrangements for the group to dine at that place for their month. Ask those who recently participated and they will tell you how much fun it is. Food and friendship are the goals of this activity.

Surprise Social Hours
Surprise Social Hours were introduced to UU’ers in August 2019. These events are more casual opportunities for Members and Friends to engage and socialize. Here’s how it works: Several hosts agree to open their homes for a few hours on a specific date. People who sign up will be asked to prepare snacks/hors d’oeuvres (simple is fine) to share and bring their own beverages (wine, beer, soft drinks, etc.). Several days in advance, participants will be assigned randomly to one of the hosts’ homes. That’s the surprise! On the appointed day and time, participants will go enjoy a few hours of fun, food, and conversation!

Sleeping Mats
The Plarn Sleeping Mats Group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 9-11a.m. in the Community Hall. We provide sleeping mats, made from re-cycled plastic bags, for the homeless in Garland County. Crocheters are always needed. However, anyone can do other steps in the process. Please give this worthy cause your consideration.
